Volunteer Opportunities
Community School Engagement (Wilmington)
Volunteers are needed to assist program staff with various programs and support work at designated elementary schools within the city of Wilmington, DE. The vision of this program is that the school will be a center of the community, stressing parent engagement, and a "hub" of services, opportunities and civic involvement for learning. Activities and duties of volunteers include: help setting up display tables, greeting parents, assisting with activities for children during evening family nights, assist with reading and math groups in a classroom setting. Number of hours would vary based on the site and the activity. Hours would range from 5 to 10 hours per week for weekly help, and 2-3 hours for a specific activity.
HS Diploma and related work experience required. Specific skills and experience working with children preferred. Some sites seek individuals with a background in the Arts (Dance, music, visual arts/painting etc.) to lead children as their parents participate in family meetings. Some college desired. Volunteers will gain meaningful work experience, and help to enhance the education and family resources for children in the community.
Internship Opportunities
We offer students seeking experiencing in social work, counseling or administrative careers the opportunity to work with directly with experienced professionals in the field. Students are provided with a range of introductory workplace and clinical experiences that enable the student to become acquainted in with clinical settings in order to assist in providing clinical services and direct service to families.
Internships are offered in the following programs: Behavioral Health Consultant; Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma In Schools; Community Schools; Family Assessment Intervention and Response Program (FAIR); Foster Care & Adoption; Functional Family Therapy; Parent Enrichment Program; and Seaford House Therapeutic Residence.
