FAIR (Family Assessement & Intervention Response)

Keeping families together and keeping children out of foster care.

Children & Families First is proud to partner with Delaware Division of Family Services on the Differential Response program known as FAIR (Family Assessment & Intervention Response). The FAIR program uses evidence-based services and best practices to help keep families together and keep children out of foster care. We keep families together by building trusting relationships, reducing sources of stress and strengthening life skills.

How Does the FAIR program work?

FAIR targets families with children age 0‑17 years who have been referred to DFS due to allegations of child abuse or neglect, or dependency. The FAIR program focuses on engaging families with children at risk of abuse, neglect or dependency which could result in foster care placement. Families are screened by the DFS hotline and then referred to Children & Families First if they meet the criteria for FAIR services.  Families can choose whether or not to participate in FAIR services.  Services are provided in the home or the community.
