Current Volunteer & Intern Opportunities
Adolescent Resource Center (ARC) Receptionists
Wilmington and Dover
The Adolescent Resource Center (ARC), is a comprehensive counseling, educational and medical service which focuses on adolescent issues related to sexuality. The ARC clinics, located in Wilmington and Dover are drop-in services for teens offering counseling, education and medical services. Volunteer receptionists are depended upon to create a confidential and welcoming environment at the clinics which have no appointments and offer afterschool hours. We need volunteers weekly who are: at least 21 years of age, are friendly and have the ability to relate to teens, are reliable, punctual and adhere to our strict confidentiality policy. Successful completion of criminal history background check required.

Classroom Moms
Stubbs Elementary School, Wilmington
Children & Families First needs Volunteer Classroom Moms for its Eastside Community School Program at Stubbs Elementary School, 1100 N. Pine St., Wilm 19801. Teachers rely on parents to act as helpers and assist with many tasks including: making copies, organizing student folders, assisting with reading and math groups, and during lunch and recess time. Volunteers are needed Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30-2:30pm, either part or full time. HS Diploma and related work experience required. Some college desired. Volunteers will gain meaningful work experience and enhance education of Stubbs students.

General Agency Clerical Support
All locations (Wilmington, Dover, Georgetown)
Volunteers are needed Statewide to support staff in many Children & Families First departments and programs by performing clerical and office tasks. This valuable “behind the scenes” assistance is needed in the Wilmington, Dover and Georgetown Offices. Hours are negotiable between 9 and 5. Orientation and training are provided by staff.

Receptionist/Office Support for 2005 Baynard Blvd.
New Castle County
Children & Families First needs to have a corps of friendly, reliable Receptionist/Office Support Volunteers who are available one or more days per week, Monday to Friday, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. Duties include: front desk, phone/switchboard, greeting visitors and in other departments, filing, copying, data entry, as needed. Individuals need to be able to relate to persons of all cultures, possess good telephone skills and have the ability to file accurately.

Recess Monitor
Stubbs Elementary School, Wilmington
This volunteer position with the Eastside Community School program serves the staff and children of Stubbs Elementary School. The volunteers provide additional help to oversee that a safe and enjoyable recess can be provided for the children every day.
Major Responsibilities: 1)Assist the staff and faculty with overseeing the children during recess;2)Engage in appropriate play with the children during recess;3) Direct disciplinary issues to school staff and faculty, where appropriate.
Volunteers needed Mondays – Fridays, between 11 am – 1 pm, for at least a 1 hour shift and be able to commit to at least 1 day each week during the school year. (Volunteers who are available for the entire 2 hour shift are welcome, as are volunteers who are willing to volunteer more than 1 day per week.) The ideal candidate will be personable and outgoing, and enjoy children. Volunteers can be parents of students or from the community at large.

Working with Children
New Castle County
Child Care Assistant needed for Strengthening Families Program to support staff working with children by helping watch over and provide activities for children whose family members are participating in this program. This is a one-time per week opportunity from 4:30 to 8:00 pm on the scheduled evening in a downtown Wilmington location. Abilities required include being able to interact as a positive role model for children; to help plan/provide suitable activities for and to relate well with children. It is important to be able to work as part of a team.
