Grand Time Off
Studies show that more than six million children nationwide - approximately 1 in 12 - are living in households headed by grandparents or other relatives. In many of these homes, grandparents and other relatives have primary responsibility for the children’s needs.
The
Grand Time Off
program provides relief for these relative caregivers by helping them find, and pay for, short-term, occasional child care. Each eligible caregiver is able to use a subsidy of $400 per child to help pay for care.

Who can use
Grand Time Off?
Grand Time Off
is available to caregivers throughout Delaware. To be eligible you must:
Provide the majority of care for these children.
Be 50 years of age or older.
Care for children who are 17 years old or younger.

When can
Grand Time Off
be used?
Eligible caregivers can use the program when:
They have appointments and other commitments and need care for their eligible child.
They need a short break from their routine caregiver duties.
They need care on a short-term basis.

Children & Families First will:
Confirm your eligibility for the program.
Help you get enrolled before you need care.
Help you find the kind of care you need, before you need it. You can choose family child care homes, child care centers, and even friends or other family members!
